Designs

I find Chinese characters fascinating, particularly Traditional Chinese characters. It is like drawing little pictures and I find them really beautiful and elegant. I remember I used to spend hours writing out Chinese character, for no particular reason, no particular purpose, just page after page. So not surprisingly I would come up with this simple idea of a frame with a single character. I think what makes it that little bit special is the cut out element and the contrasting colours. I have selected 3 characters that I’ve found worked the best. The characters are all cut by hand using a very sharpe scalpel.

I will always try and make a design from scratch. However there are embellishments in some designs, in particular the metal bike and the bride & groom that are not made by me. But they are just perfect for the job.
